Hello. My name is Emily. I am a yoga instructor and military spouse. In 2014, I earned my 200-hour certification for Power Yoga through CorePower Yoga. Since then, I have earned certifications in Yin through Down Dog Yoga and Mindful Resilience for Trauma Recovery through Veterans Yoga Project. In 2021, I earned my 500-hour certification after the completion of a 300-hour certification through Inhale Thrive. I have taught classes at studios, fitness centers, and virtually to students of all ages and abilities, including children on a swim team, grandparents, military units, and dedicated practitioners.
I come from a military family. My father was in the Coast Guard and we moved around the country, finally settling in California. In 1987, I met my husband. Thirteen years later, we were married just after he commissioned in the Army. We have been married for over 20 years.
My first yoga class was over 20 years ago at an Air Force base gym. After that class, I continued to practice yoga with a VHS tape. It was not until 2010 that I began to enjoy it more. The teachers were able to share their love of yoga and I was able to enjoy how my body moved. I found a deeper connection to my body and mind.
My philosophy about yoga is that yoga is for everyone. I understand everyone does not move the same way and we all have limitations or injuries. My teaching style reflects this. I strive to make yoga accessible to everyone.
Besides teaching yoga, I enjoy spending time with my three kids, husband, and our adorable rescue puppy named Charlie.
